Welcome!
This website was created to archive the work of Greg Wojcik and his time at Glenbrook South High School.
Before Retiring, Greg Wojcik taught at Glenbrook South High School for over thirty-seven years. While being the assistant director at GBS, Greg was also teaching band and orchestra at Sunset Ridge Junior High. At the high school, Mr. Peter Pappas (the director of bands) and Greg worked side by side for fourteen years. Pete was Greg’s friend and mentor and in 1994, upon his retirement, Greg was appointed as director of bands at GBS. Under Greg’s direction, the band has traveled throughout the United States and abroad, consistently receiving superior ratings.
Notes from 1977: Glenbrook South High School opened its doors for the first time in September of 1962. The Glenbrook South band program encourages academic excellence and fosters a sense of pride and camaraderie among its members. The band students strive for excellence, which is evident in their performances. This year, the Glenbrook South Band Program has grown to include approximately 195 students, making it one of the largest bands in the country. The Glenbrook South Band has made a significant impact on the high school band movement, not only in the state of Illinois but across the entire country.
Greg Wojcik collaborated with David Lukaszczyk, a Music Education student at Illinois State University, to preserve the history, excellence, and traditions of the Glenbrook South High School Bands and other parts of the fine arts department.
